SSRF publishes these case studies with the intention of providing some direction to our readers with regard to problems that manifest at a physical or psychological level, but which can have their root cause in the spiritual dimension. When the root cause of a problem is spiritual in nature we have observed that the inclusion of spiritual healing remedies generally gives the best results. SSRF advises continuation of conventional medical treatment along with spiritual healing remedies for the treatment of physical and psychiatric illnesses. Readers are advised to take up any spiritual healing remedy at their own discretion.
1. A summary of Mr. S.G. Vatkar’s heart disease
Mr. Vatkar works as a Deputy General Manager with The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. in Mumbai, India. He has been practising Spirituality since 1989. The following is an account of Mr. Vatkar discussing in his own words the case history, the symptoms and the spiritual remedy that cured him.
I was having chest pain for some months. As its intensity increased an ECG was done on 12th February 2000. My family doctor reassured me that the ECG and my blood pressure were normal.
As the chest pain persisted I took that ECG to a cardiologist and sought his advice. He advised me to undergo a stress test. While undergoing the stress test on 15th February 2000, the consultant doctor stopped the test within 4-5 minutes and said that I had a severe cardiac problem. Normally this test is terminated after 15 to 20 minutes.

When I showed the results of the stress test to another cardiologist, he advised angiography if I was ready to undergo surgery. He advised medical treatment and a follow up after two weeks. On the same day I reported this to His Holiness Dr. Athavale on the telephone.
As I was narrating the events, He interrupted me and said, “You don’t have any cardiac problem. This has happened because of depletion of your Vital energy (Prāṇa-shakti) reserves. Start Āyurvēdic medicines, take adequate rest and continue service unto the Absolute Truth (satsēvā).”
I started medicines as advised and took rest for a week. Instead of abating, my chest pain went on increasing. A specialist doctor staying next door advised me to undergo some more medical tests and take treatment accordingly and also go for a walk. He assured me that the exercise would restart the circulation (natural bypass). My friends and the office physician also advised me to go for further investigations. On 22nd February 2000, I received a message to contact H.H. Dr. Athavale immediately. I rang Him thinking that it could be in connection with some important task related to the Trust activities.
The first thing He said was, “Have you approached H.H. Joshibaba for spiritual treatment according to the e-mail I had sent on 16th February 2000 itself?”
I replied, “I have not received this message. Hence I have not approached Him for spiritual treatment. Now I will go to Him.” Then I asked Him if in the meantime I could be hospitalised to undergo further medical tests. He affirmed.
On 23 February 2000 I was admitted in the Lilawati Hospital, Mumbai, India. During the hospital stay of 2-3 days I underwent a variety of medical tests.

From the reports, it was obvious that there was insufficient blood supply to the heart that put my life at high risk and that this could not be treated merely with drugs. These tests (scanning and nuclear medicine) have an almost 90% accuracy rate. The consultant told me that in order to decide a further course of treatment I would have to go for angiography. With the Guru’s grace all the doctors I consulted were sāttvik or Sattva predominant but their diagnosis was based only on gross investigations. I was a bit uncertain and worried. I started the spiritual remedies advised by H.H. Joshibaba immediately.
He said, “You go for the angiography. We will decide what to do afterwards but on the other hand you don’t have to do anything of that sort.”

Before undertaking further investigations and treatment I spoke to H.H. Dr. Athavale on 27 February 2000. He said, “Get the angiography done. If the doctor advises surgery (coronary bypass) go for it. We don’t want to waste spiritual practice to treat the physical illness. We have lots of work to do in the future and we don’t want to waste your time. Chant the Name of God given to you and continue the spiritual remedy as advised by H.H. Joshibaba.

I felt reassured with H.H. Dr. Athavale‘s words and I decided that, ‘Whatever happens it will be as per God’s wish.’ On 29 February 2000, I was taken to the operation theatre for the angiography. Remembering my Guru H.H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj and H.H. Dr. Athavale, I closed my eyes and started chanting the Name of my family Deity. Even though I had the opportunity to observe the procedure over monitor I did not see or listen to anything. After 15 minutes, the doctor exclaimed, “Congratulations! You don’t even have a 1% block in your vessels. Generally a 50-70 % block in the blood vessels is common in a 54 year old person. Such unblocked vessels are rare. There is no need for angioplasty or bypass surgery. You do not have any cardiac problem.” I said, ”It’s only due to Guru’s grace.”

Even after my repeated questions the doctors could not give a satisfactory explanation for this on an anatomical basis. I immediately telephoned to inform this to H.H. Joshibaba. He said, “I had already told you that you don’t have any medical problem. God has planned a lot of work to be done through you. This has happened because of your faith.”

2. Spiritual perspective of Mr. S.G. Vatkar’s case study
According to the science of Spirituality the spiritual root cause of any illness is two-fold:
• One is because of an increase in the Tama component with a concomitant decrease in Sattva.
• The other is due to attacks by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies etc.)
Hence the specific spiritual remedy is based on efforts to reduce the Tama component and increase the Sattva component as per the case as well as efforts to alleviate the problems due to ghosts.
Spiritual diagnosis
Now, in Mr. Vatkar’s case one of the major spiritual root causes of his heart disease was a reduction in Vital energy. This was basically due to negative energy problems and also a reduction in the Sattva component.
So what exactly healed his Vital energy problem?
Spiritual remedy
Mr. Vatkar undertook chanting of the Name of God as advised by his spiritual guide with faith.
Mechanism of action of chanting the Name of God: When we chant the Name of God, it also has His Divine consciousness (Chaitanya) attached to it. The reason for this is a spiritual rule that states the ‘Touch, form, taste, odour and the energy associated with something always co-exists with the name of it’. Hence chanting the Name of God increases the Vital energy stores in a person.
In addition he also undertook specific spiritual remedies as advised by H.H. Joshibaba.
