1. What do we mean by the number chants?
Number chants are specific numbers which have been found out and confirmed through spiritual research, that when repeated (like the Name of God) alleviate specific symptoms caused by distress by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.). For example, by repeating the number ‘61’ dryness of skin caused due to distress by ghosts is overcome. Throughout this website, we have provided specific number chants as a spiritual remedy for various physical and mental illnesses.
An advantage of this remedy is that it is more universal and easy to undertake, especially for those who cannot repeat the Name of God for any reason (either because they are atheists or they find it difficult to pronounce the words in the chant)
Many seekers of God doing spiritual practice under the guidance of the Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) have experienced and are experiencing the relief from symptoms of illness by chanting the number chant.
2. Which is the best language to use for number chants?
Number chants are most effective when done in Sanskrit as it is the most sattvik language.
If you find it difficult to pronounce a multi digit number, e.g. 131, you can repeat the number 5, which is the number obtained by adding all the digits in 131 (1+3+1= 5). Of course, the benefit derived would be reduced.
However if you find it impossible to do the chants in Sanskrit you can do it in your own language.

4. How does the number chant work?
-
Good health is a state of predominance of the subtle basic sattva component in the various organs and systems of our body. Any illness basically entails an increase in subtle basic raja-tama component with a concomitant decrease in subtle sattva component. The specific number chant generates sattvikta and restores this imbalance caused in a particular symptom to normal, thereby removing the symptom.
Please read the article on What are the 3 subtle basic components?
-
Each number chant corresponds to a specific deity principle or a specific aspect of God. By chanting that number, that particular deity principle or aspect of God is invoked. This in turn acts as a divine medicine to combat the influence of the ghost responsible for the particular symptom. Of course, if one were to directly chant the Name of the aspect of God one would get greater benefit.
5. What is the quantity and duration of the number chant recommended for relief from symptoms?
It is recommended that you perform this remedy on a daily basis. The amount of time per day needs to be decided according to the severity of the symptoms.
-
For mild afflictions: We recommend that you do the chants for 1-2 hours per day in a single session or in a number of sessions.
-
Moderate: Do it for 3-4 hours or more.
-
Severe: Do the remedy for as long as possible every day.
5.1 Should the number chant be complemented with anything else?
It is advisable to complement the number chants with frequent prayer and nyaas whenever possible. This helps to channelise the specific spiritual energy generated from the chanting to specific spiritual energy centre (Kundalini chakra) from where it is disseminated to the organs receiving spiritual energy from the spiritual energy centre.
Please refer to the article on nyaas.
-
In general, for all physical illnesses, you can do nyaas by keeping the bunched fingers of one hand 2-3 cms. in front of the point 2/3rds down the breast bone (Anaahat chakra) and the other 2-3 cms. in front of the navel (Manipur chakra).
-
For all mental illnesses the general nyaas positions would be one hand 2-3 cms. in front of the mid-brow region (Aadnyaa chakra) and the other hand 2-3 cms. in front of the point 2/3rds down the breast bone (Anaahat chakra).
If one is able to continue the chanting while engaged in other routine physical activity like exercising, taking a shower, cooking, eating, etc., it is advisable to do so.
5.2 Does one need to have faith to derive the benefit?
Faith helps, but we can still derive benefit from any spiritual remedy suggested on this website without it. This is akin to the fact that one does not need faith in a medicine to derive the benefit of the medicine. So also, this is a spiritual medicine and one will derive benefit by putting it into practice whether one has faith or not.
6. How long do we continue the number chant after the disappearance of symptoms?
After the symptoms have disappeared, continue the remedy for 2-4 months. The reason behind this can be understood from the analogy of infective bronchitis, where the disappearance of cough does not mean that the illness has been eradicated from the lungs. The germs responsible for the illness and the cough still persist and hence the prescribed antibiotics have to be continued for some time even after the cough has disappeared. Similarly, even after the symptoms have disappeared, the influence of the ghost remains and hence the remedy needs to be continued for complete cure.
