Are major disasters destined?

When we hear in the news about a missing plane, a railway collision, an industrial disaster, explosion in a nuclear power plant, or a shipwreck – or when we read about it in history books, we usually have a question ‘why this has happened?’

Our history is laden with examples of various disasters: aviation, maritime, structural collapses, rail, industrial, nuclear, etc. To start with the most recent one:

  1. On 8 March 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Kuala Lumpur to Beijing lost communication with air traffic control centers. Mysteriously, the plane has been missing ever since. Government officials of various countries have theories about what happened to the plane, however, nobody knows what really happened to the plane. Officials reported that on board the aircraft were 227 passengers of 14 different nationalities. To this date, the plane is yet to be found.

  2. On 24 April 2013, Rana Plaza, an eight-story commercial building, collapsed in Savar, a sub-district in the Greater Dhaka Area, the capital of Bangladesh. The search for the dead ended on 13 May with the death toll of 1,129. (Courtesy – Wikipedia)
  3. The Ufa train disaster was an explosion on the Kuybyshev Railway on June 4, 1989 at 1:15 (local time) in the Soviet Union, about 50 kilometers from the city of Ufa. It was the deadliest railway accident in Russian and Soviet history. According to official figures, 575 people died and more than 800 were injured. (Courtesy – Wikipedia)
  4. The Chernobyl disaster  that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine is widely considered to have been the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, and is one of only two classified as a level 7 event (the maximum classification) on the International Nuclear Event Scale. The battle to contain the contamination and avert a greater catastrophe ultimately involved over 500,000 workers and cost an estimated 18 billion rubles. 31 people died during the accident itself, and long-term effects such as cancers and deformities are still being accounted for. 5. The Bhopal disaster, also referred to as the Bhopal gas tragedy, was a gas leak incident in India, considered the world’s worst industrial disaster. It occurred on the night of 2–3 December 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Over 500,000 people were exposed to methyl isocyanate gas and other chemicals. The toxic substance made its way in and around the shanty towns located near the plant. Estimates vary on the death toll. The official immediate death toll was 2,259. (Courtesy – Wikipedia)
  6. On 15 April 1912, the RMS Titanic, a British passenger liner sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg. The ship was traveling from Southampton, UK to New York City, USA. Amongst the passengers were some of the wealthiest people in the world as well as hundreds of immigrants from all over Europe, seeking a new life in the U.S.A. Of the 2,224 passengers, more than 1,500 died. Thomas Andrews, Jr. (7 February 1873 – 15 April 1912) was an Irish businessman and shipbuilder; managing director and head of the drafting department for the shipbuilding company Harland and Wolff in Belfast, Ireland. Andrews was the naval architect in charge of the plans for the ocean liner RMS Titanic. He was travelling on board the Titanic during its maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg on 14 April 1912 and perished in the disaster. According to the Science of Spirituality everything that is created, is first sustained for some time and then destroyed.

As much as one empathizes with the victims of such disasters, one remains baffled as to why such events happen.

As per the Spiritual Science all such major events or disasters are destined in the life of a person who perishes in the disaster or undergoes suffering. This is because birth, death, marriage and major accidents or illnesses are 100% destined in our life.

When many people perish in the same disaster this means that their time of death was the same. We have also heard some stories of people missing the plane that was destined to crash, or missing to board the ship that was destined to sink. In such cases, it means that death in such a disaster was not destined for them at that time.

With regular spiritual practice as per the 6 basic principles, one can undergo difficult destiny with less suffering and even overcome destiny in some cases as God graces the seeker.

Spiritual experience of a seeker:

“I was doing spiritual practice under the guidance of SSRF for two years. I was walking down the street and was chanting the Name of God mentally. All of a sudden a huge truck was coming towards me at great speed and it seemed that the driver did not see me. At that time I just heard the voice within saying “Yell!” So I yelled and one person who appeared out of nowhere grabbed me to pull me away from a rolling truck. God has saved my life.” – Ms. Maria V., Serbia, EU

  • Namaskar 🙂

    Very nice post dear Nia.

Much gratitude for sharing interesting articles. Please carry on since i like to read this blog. 🙂

It’s a true gift to be able to know that such events are always destined. This already took away a lot of fear from me. For example earlier i would be afraid to walk by big dogs but now i know, that God gives me destiny and lets me undergo it to be freed from its bondage. So it’s okay either way, bitten or not. Hence my fears in general reduced greatly and i calm down more quickly.

    Gratitude
