Kishore, who helps the publishing team at SSRF, recounts an unusual series of computer failures that obstructed us while publishing matter on the SSRF website

I am a freelance photo-journalist by profession, but in my spare time I have the good fortune of using my skills to serve the spiritual research publishing team at SSRF. Working with a spiritual research team is a unique experience and cannot be compared to working in everyday life. One of the main distinguishing factors is the incredible amount of resistance from negative energies that seekers (of SSRF) face when collating, editing and publishing information on the SSRF website and other associated spiritual journals. Some of the adverse spiritual experiences of seekers have been published on the SSRF website under the section ‘Horrifying Supernatural Encounters’.

I would like to share one such example of a subtle attack on the editorial team of SSRF that I was privy to. The picture below is of a high-end Hewlett Packard notebook on which most of the content and architecture for the SSRF website has been prepared over the last few years.

The notebook was bought in 2006 and over the next three years it faced incessant problems; the timing of which quite often coincided with critical junctures in the preparation of important content for the website. The laundry list of problems and replacements that this notebook encountered is quite extraordinary, especially considering the fact that it was a top-of-the-line notebook from HP.

• 3 screen changes as bubbles would appear in the screen along with distorted images
• 1 hard disk failure
• 1 motherboard failure due to rust
• 1 graphics card failure
• 1 set of RAM failing
• 3 battery packs replaced
• 1 battery charger replaced
• 1 power pack cable that started to burn up
• And an extraordinary number of viruses (despite up-to-date anti-virus software) that reduced the performance of the notebook

The only thing left to replace was the outer casing. When we asked the servicing agent, he too was very surprised by the number of problems that this notebook had faced as it was quite unlike anything that he had experienced. The subtle department at SSRF, through advanced sixth sense, confirmed that all these breakdowns were due to negative energy attacks. These are just some of the problems faced by the SSRF research team at a physical level in getting this valuable information out to the world.

In my years of association with SSRF, I have learned that negative energies operate throughout society by stealth and that many of the problems both at an individual level and at the level of society are due to them. Most people in society are ignorant of the involvement of negative energies in their lives. SSRF lays out the facts quite plainly about their involvement and the spiritual remedies to overcome them. As a result SSRF also incurs the wrath of negative energies as they like to fiercely guard the extent to which they are active in the physical realm. This is because their very strategy, so as to effect maximum damage, is to work covertly.

The way I see it, these subtle attacks on SSRF are nothing but a back-handed compliment to SSRF by demonic subtle forces. The subtle attacks only endorse the importance of the content on the SSRF website as negative energies do their best to derail it from becoming public knowledge. Having been witness to a variety of such types of obstacles faced by seekers, I have only gained a greater sense of appreciation for value of the knowledge displayed on the SSRF website.

Whenever we have attended the funeral of an average person, our experience has been that the surrounding environment is charged with tāmasic spiritual vibrations. You may have read our article on Burial versus Cremation which explains the reason why death is tama predominant. For those of you who have not, here is a snippet:

“At the time of death, excretory gases are expelled from the dead body. These excretory gases are regular physical gases expelled by the body such as putrefying gases, etc. Since they are gases exiting a decaying body, their frequencies and vibrations are negative in nature and as a result the tama component increases in the immediate surrounding environment. Ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) get attracted to these negative frequencies and enter the environment around the dead body.” SSRF.org article Burial Versus Cremation

Honap Kaku’s passing on the other hand emanated spiritual positivity. Just as she was an example to all of us while being bedridden, even in death she continued to show us the benefits of spiritual practice and spiritual evolvement. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some observations that helped to instill a deeper faith in the seekers (who witnessed her passing) about the benefits of spiritual practice.

Seekers at the research centre have an above average ability to perceive the difference between positive and negative spiritual vibrations. Without exception all the seekers who had come to pay their respects perceived that her lifeless body was emanating Chaitanya (Divine Consciousness). They also felt spiritual healing taking place on them which is an extremely uncommon outcome given that death brings with it spiritually distressing vibrations.

Later that afternoon we noticed that a number of seekers who are possessed by negative energies, when exposed to the positive healing effect of her body, scrambled to defend themselves from the Chaitanya (Divine Consciousness) emanating from her body.

Along with this, we were witness to another unique phenomenon. Due to the Chaitanya emanating from her there was an absence of decay, foul odour or rigor mortis in her body right until the time of the funeral some 26 hours later. This was so, despite the weather being hot and humid and Honap Kaku’s body being exposed to hot lights in the studio for over three hours after her passing to shoot the above mentioned experiment. Rigor mortis (body stiffness after death) is a condition which typically sets in after 3-12 hours of the death. Yet in Honap Kaku’s case her joints and limbs remained flexible until her cremation the following day. Her skin and muscle tone was supple and as we looked at her face, it seemed very fresh as if she had just passed away. Looking at her I had the feeling that she seemed so life like.

Funerals are generally morose occasions where there are many tears shed, depressive thoughts and grieving is the order of the day. However on this occasion as we prepared the final funeral rites for Honap Kaku, a spiritually advanced seeker, we felt sereneness in her presence due to the Chaitanya and the knowledge that she would be going to a higher realm in the subtle regions of the Universe where she would continue her spiritual journey to be liberated from the cycle of births and deaths.

I reflected on what I had gained from witnessing this whole event and seeing its effect on other seekers. As I gathered my thoughts, I bowed my head in prayer, that I be used as an instrument to help others live a spiritually fulfilling life like Honap Kaku. Where everyday should count towards achieving the true purpose of life and where physical death is not steeped in grief and negativity but just a waypoint in our journey to merge back with our Creator.

What does spiritual science tell us about the phenomenon of capturing ghosts in a bottle? Is it possible?

Recently the news of two ghosts captured in glass vials with stoppers and soaked in holy water captured the curiosity of world media. The ghosts were reported to have been not only captured, but also sold at an auction in New Zealand for almost $2000. There has been subsequent debate on whether the captured ghosts were for real.

This is not the first time that sale of ghosts in a bottle has caused a bit of a stir. A few years ago a mill-worker from North Ireland set up a similar sale on eBay, and one man in Florida has even set up a business of selling ghosts in bottles which are captured by professional ‘ghost catchers’ around the US.

What does spiritual science tell us about this phenomenon of capturing ghosts in a bottle? Is it possible to capture a ghost?

Spiritual science tells us that the world we live in, our bodies, the things we use, including glass vials are all gross things. On the other hand, our thoughts, ego, etc. are all subtle things. We all have a subtle body comprising of the subconscious mind, intellect, ego and soul. When someone passes away the gross body is left behind but the subtle body moves on to the other regions of the universe. A subtle body becomes a ghost if they have many unfulfilled desires, personality defects, such as anger, fear, greed, negative impressions in the mind, etc. and haven’t done spiritual practice with the intention of God realisation.

So ghosts are subtle bodies, who are steeped in the basic subtle tama component. Being subtle, they cannot be ‘captured’ and ‘stored’ in things that are gross as the laws that apply to the gross world, do not apply to them.

We can take the example of air, which is also subtle. If there was air in a glass vial, it could also simultaneously exist outside the vial. A ghost, who is more subtle than air, can certainly be inside a vial but at the same time be outside and going through the vial and then be somewhere else. So while the ghosts could have been in the vials at some point, it is due to not understanding spiritual science that people both claim and believe that ghosts could be stored or captured in there.

Have you ever wondered why psychiatrists themselves suffer from depression or some form of mental illness?

While seeking guidance from His Holiness Dr. Athavale on a spiritual research topic, He mentioned something which would be of value to psychiatrists. His Holiness Dr. Athavale was Himself practicing as a clinical hypnotherapist until He came fully into spiritual practice. He mentioned that as many as 70% of all psychiatrists suffer from some mental illness themselves especially after years of practice.

The main reason for this is that they deal with mentally ill patients who in turn most of the times (90% of the time) are affected / possessed by negative energies or departed ancestors. This means that in 9 out of 10 cases of mentally ill patients that a psychiatrist treats, the root cause of the patient’s illness is in the spiritual dimension.  The psychiatrists themselves having no subtle ability cannot perceive that many a time they are actually dealing with or talking to negative energies. When they try and help the mentally ill patient, they quite often enrage the possessing entity (negative energy) that ends up attacking the psychiatrist at a subtle level. This is the main cause of why psychiatrists become patients themselves and show signs of depression, suicidal thoughts and other behavioural changes which resemble a psychiatric patient. Understanding this aspect and the spiritual dimension and its impacts on mental health can help psychiatrists put spiritual measures in place to both protect themselves and also better help their patients.

How to recognize whether tears are due to spiritual emotion or emotion? In cases when a person is possessed, is it the person who is crying or the possessing entity who is acting?

1. Crying due to spiritual emotion (bhāv)

A. Tears are due to spiritual emotion (bhāv) if they occur while chanting and while thinking sāttvik thoughts.

B. Sometimes one cries even when no thoughts are there, but the mind is happy. This is due to unmanifest bhāv.

C. If the tears are due to bhāv, then the body feels light, the eyes become bright, the mind is energetic and feels like doing a lot of satseva.

2. Crying due to emotion

A. When one feels like crying due to the memory of some family member or due to some instance which has happened, then it is due to emotion.

B. If the crying is due to emotion, the body becomes heavy, one feels drowsy and feels like sleeping or feels that the head and the eyes are paining.

3. When the possessing entity acts like he/she is crying

A. Ghosts act like they are crying, to fool others.

Many times we cannot make out if the possessing entity is crying or the person is crying. To find out, put the person in front of a mirror. If the crying is due to a ghost, it will stop crying and start fighting with the mirror. This way we can make out whether the ghost is acting or the person is crying.

B.The ghost never looks at the crying face in the mirror. Such a person puts their head down in front of the mirror and cries. Thus we can find out who is crying.

C. If the possessing entity (māntrik) is crying, do not waste time in trying to understand the person at a psychological level. Guide them to do spiritual remedies, take them to a sāttvik place or a temple or light incense sticks and put boxes around them and sprinkle vibhuti water or Holy water.
