Why 70% of psychiatrists themselves suffer from mental illness

Have you ever wondered why psychiatrists themselves suffer from depression or some form of mental illness?

While seeking guidance from His Holiness Dr. Athavale on a spiritual research topic, He mentioned something which would be of value to psychiatrists. His Holiness Dr. Athavale was Himself practicing as a clinical hypnotherapist until He came fully into spiritual practice. He mentioned that as many as 70% of all psychiatrists suffer from some mental illness themselves especially after years of practice.

The main reason for this is that they deal with mentally ill patients who …

Forces of nature assist video shoot after prayer

While shooting the first episode of Horrifying Supernatural Encounters, I developed a feeling of closeness to the deities of the Absolute Cosmic Elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. As the supernatural phenomena were taking place because of higher level negative energies using the Absolute Cosmic Elements we needed to explain what they were in the documentary script. While writing the script I would mull over how best to explain this concept and visualise it to a lay person. I often found myself in prayer to the deities of the Absolute Cosmic Elements asking them for guidance in writing that part of the script as I felt ill-equipped to do the explanation justice. I felt a deep sense of gratitude and privilege to share this knowledge about the deities of the Absolute Cosmic Elements with the world. It also deepened my appreciation for Them as they are the building blocks for the entire Universe. The production team spent quite some time in preparing a segment of the video…

Predicting the Future

In 2004, when I was living in Melbourne, I heard that His Holiness Dadaji Vaishampayan (a Saint from India) fondly known as Dadaji had come to Sydney in Australia. While I was really keen on travelling to Sydney to get His darshan (holy view), due to unavoidable circumstances, I couldn’t make the trip.

The next time I heard of this trip of Dadaji’s was a month ago, when he had come to the SSRF research centre at Goa. It was announced that the predictions that He made while He was in Australia would be made public.

When in Sydney, Dadaji who was close to 90 years old had performed severe austerities. At that time Dadaji wrote down 22 predictions…

On sharing knowledge

Sharing knowledge across continents is never easy, especially for a small, self-funded, non-profit organisation. But that is precisely what we had in mind when we started the SSRF website over two years ago. The primary aim of the website is to help humanity understand the spiritual dimension and to guide the curious seeker of God all the way to God-Realisation, which is the ultimate step in spiritual growth. In the beginning we did this only through articles. But later we felt that articles by themselves did not do justice to …

If the student is willing, the Guru is always teaching

I would like to share with you an experience that has etched an indelible impression in my mind that the Guru teaches us through all situations in life if we are willing to learn from it.

The following incident happened in 2002 on one of my trips to India for spiritual research. Surburban trains are the fastest way to get from South Mumbai to North Mumbai but they are also unbelievably crowded…

300 Articles and we haven’t even begun!

SSRF’s website crossed another milestone in its history, when it reached the 300 mark in articles published. While this is great because the depth of knowledge is inarguably one of its kind on the Internet, the editorial team does have a problem. It’s a good problem to have because with over 40,000 A4 size pages of divine knowledge received, one could well say we haven’t even begun. Over and above this, divine knowledge continues to be received on a daily basis which goes into a queue to be published. All …
