Can animals and plants/trees also be possessed?
Yes animals, plants and trees can be possessed by ghosts, though it is quite rare for them to be possessed.
Ghosts possess animals from the point of using them as media to trouble humans. The possession is temporary after which they can make them do a number of things to trouble humans.
- Trouble humans by attacking them, e.g. ghosts can possess an already rabid dog, who then becomes even more vicious and goes and bites the person the ghost wants to trouble.
- Increasing the resistance levels of germs, insects, rodents etc. to measures to get rid of them such as pesticides etc.
- Making insects and animals to multiply very fast so as to be troublesome to humans. Example – cockroaches, rats, bed bugs, mosquitoes etc.
Ghosts mostly possess those animals or plants that are basically regressed human beings. By regressed human being we mean human beings who have taken birth as animals to undergo some suffering.
Among the plants that are not regressed humans, ghosts reside on those plants that are already high in raja-tama like the cactus. One of the main reasons behind ghosts possessing trees is to trouble humans through them. To achieve this they possess that particular tree near which the person whom they want to torment goes very regularly.
Ghosts usually reside on trees to trouble humans passing under or near those trees. In case of trees that are regressed humans, they can reside inside them too.
